Bike paths were created for a reason, and allowing something with a motor to use them essentially negates that reason.
Semi-motorized bikes weak enough that in typical real-world operation they fit into existing usage in a way that doesn't stick out are probably okay; those that start to
change the path dynamics in a way unfriendly to original unmotorized uses are definitely not.
