Eight miles, pretty much a straight line between two cities. Only other route option is 11 gorgeous miles of rolling hills, narrow to nonexistent shoulders, and high-speed traffic. I always take the shorter ride in the morning; once in a while I'll take the longer ride home, when I'm feeling strong (and lucky).
