We're watching Trapped right now. Hopefully its portrayal of the sweet Scandinavian lifestyle will convince the little lady that we need to move to one of those countries.
I spent the holidays in Gothenberg, Sweden in '88-'89 chasing the fantasy of keeping alive the summer relationship I had with a au pair. The winter was dark and gloomy. And because we were near the coast, it was damp.
Interesting though. Her family lived in a suburb. The house was pretty small but efficiently designed so that I never felt cramped. Dad was a basically a Phys-Ed teacher and mom was an admin assistant. Standard of living with to kids seemed comfortable. Definitely not rich. They even had a sauna in their house.
