I don't like riding bikes like these but to each his own. Lots of people in my neighborhood put them to good use, and I'm happy to see that. They are practical and even stylish. Mine is a bicycle-dense neighborhood (
West Villlage), and many of the apartments are small. Not only that, many of the buildings in my neighborhood don't have elevators, so people have no choice but to leave their bikes outside overnight. With this, I get to see a lot of what people are riding. There are many styles of bikes, and English and Dutch uprights are pretty popular, more than the old American style.
