the gear ratio matters greatly. Not that some can’t skid on a high gear ratio but it matters...alot. Not just for skidding it is the single most important character of the ride after frame material imo. Order of importance-Start with steel then...
1)gear ratio
2)bar type
3)saddle
4)wheelset
5)tire size
6)pedals/retention
