That's why both routes that I use between Falls City and other places have gravel sections -- there's a lot less auto traffic. Gravel doesn't bother me, though I breath dust in the summer when I do meet a car. I don't have to worry about any more dust until next June.
There are a number of roads around here that vary between paved and gravel. While I'm not a fan of cycling on gravel, I am getting better at it, and the gravel on Saturday's ride wasn't too bad. And the big benefit is that those roads tend to be quiet.
