Mine probably take that long, but it's one of those things where if I had a shop do it, I'd feel like I was being lazy. Basically I do all my own bike maintenance except the stuff that requires specialized tools, like headsets, bottom brackets, and cranks. I built up the Battaglin and rebuilt the Ritchey myself. Only took me 3 broken Campy seatpost binder bolts to realize the Battaglin takes a 27.4 seatpost, not a 27.2.
