That sounds exactly like what my surgeon described, that I tore the skin away from the tissue below. I'm going to ask about it when I go back next week.

NOTE: DO NOT GOOGLE THIS AND LOOK AT IMAGES! Unless you like seeing lots of flayed body parts. What a mistake on my part.
