So, I wanted to look into this first to have some background on explaining why I (and the kids) might not appreciate it. As the other person might very well not perceive the "why" we'd not like it.
Apparently, it can appear as physically confrontational as a warning that altercation could ensue. Almost like clapping at a child you're angry with as a warning you're about to spank them.
Most psyche stuff I came across said that's why people don't like it and that the person doing it likely doesn't understand that as the reason.
So just have to have a good way of saying "it's subconscious that we feel this way, but we feel this way due to this".
