Not by a long shot. Growing up in New England in the late 1950s and early 1960s, subzero temperatures were common. I can recall one -20 day quite well. This winter is pitiful by historic standards and only impressive when compared with recent ones. For example, it was common to go skiing in the East during Thanksgiving vacation during 1961-1965.
