A little of rain is tolerable, and even somewhat enjoyable.
A lot of rain is just miserable, warm or not. The nearer your destination the more you can 'enjoy' it.
People say rain but what constitutes as rain in the northwest is something totally different in the southeast. Believe me when I tell you that getting pelted in the face by extra large water droplet driven by thunderstorm winds is no fun at all. And down right painful once you get hit in the eye by one of those drops. Who knew water could hurt so much.
