The Golf R is not a bad car at all. Best interior out of the bunch. Most unassuming as well; with 2 small plain "R" badges on the front grille and rear hatch. But I found the driving experience a little too tame/ refined for my tastes in a fun car that I can beat on at the track. Aftermarket support is poor compared to the other 3 as well if you ever find yourself needing improvements.
Haven't been around in a while so I'm just seeing this - I'm looking myself for the eventuality - but right now my
#1 is a VW Golf Alltrack - the wagon. Did you investigate them at all? I know I can get a bike in the back - laying down, probably not standing up (with front wheel off) though that would be my preference.
