Hi, I just want to reply here b/c I'm a new member and cannot make a post.
And hey, it's the same topic as my question!
I am looking at around the same budget, sub-200.

I'm interested in purchasing an inexpensive road bike for commuting. I will be in Chicago. It's my first bike in awhile. I'd like an older bike because 1) I like steel frames (period); 2) I like to reuse rather than buy new; 3) it's good for my budget. Budget: If there was a nice tuned up bike with new-ish parts on it for $50-200 that would be ideal.

Here is one from the mid-80s, Motobecane Super Mirage

It's on montreal.craigslist.ca. The title: "Motobecane - Ultegra -Vélo de route Road Bike - Métro Mont Royal - $200 (Montréal)"

And the body of the listing:
Motobecane en excellente condition / Prêt à rouler
-Cadre en acier allégé 2040
-Guidoline neuve
-Pédalier Ultegra + pédales changées l'an dernier.
-Roues en aluminium de 27 pouces
-Cadre de 23 pouces / 23 inches frame (would work for someone 5'8 to 6'1)
-Tune up fait par un professionnel la semaine dernière
Thoughts and comments greatly appreciate!
