29x2 fits on my 2018 frame, and I can't imagine they'd have reduced the clearance. It is tight, though. The tire can't have wide-splayed knobs on it. I had a WTB Nano on mine in 29x2, and that one fit okay. You can move to 27.5" wheels and fit up to about 2.3" wide tires on those.
