oh I've heard that before!
me & zip ties are old friends out on the trail ... but with straps there's no cutting required (to remove) & they're reusable. I guess one doesn't need a toe strap. meaning, recently (Oct 2018) while looking for straps for my bike rack, I came across many small straps like what would be good for XC skiis
