I personally would have drilled & tapped it as well as glue. Or minimum wrapped it in wire embedded in glue on the outside as well. I suspect you won't be going far.
I thought about doing some of that. Due to where the break is and clearances to the frame, there's really not room for growth externally. Not enough area to drill and add pins.
