Could you have it powder coated? If not I`ve heard some peopel use epoxy paint for boats on bikes and it is said to be strong. Not sure about the finish.

Keep an eye on it and find out what parts of the frame that is actually touching the ground or wall. Maybe you could put some protection on where it is needed? Old grips? Same foam they use for insulating pipes? Garden hose or pneumatic hose? In the folder foums you often see peopel has put pneumatic hose on the rear rack of the BF tikit. I think this part often hits the ground when folding and transporting the bike.
