On the 3rd of this month, I ran into what can best be described as an "outlaw bicycle gang/ride." It was some kind of underground ride picking up riders and causing havoc as they went. I was visiting the son at VCU when they came along on Laurel St. in front of the Landmark/Altria Theater. About 100-150 strong with some gas powered bikes as well. Cruising along on a slow roll, ignoring traffic laws and generally being unlawful towards anyone in their path. Banging on cars, making noise, etc. It was a very dangerous situation for drivers and pedestrians in the area. Have you ever heard or encountered this group? It was around 2-3pm on a Sunday.
My now ex-girlfriend (hence the "major life upheaval" comments) lives right next to the VMFA on Boulevard, we'd hear packs of idiots on gas-powered bikes and mopeds cruising around in enormous groups every Sunday. I just think it's a thing in the Fan, they can be extremely obnoxious and dangerous. Seen plenty of dirt bike riders doing wheelies through the fan going 4 times the speed limit.
