Better they buzz the noodle than they swipe you without one. Yes, a scratching awl or a paint brush in that noodle would be a good idea.

My problem is that my rides are a combination of MUPs, bike lanes and roads. So I'd like to retract the noodle (without having to stop and adjust) when I'm on the MUP or bike lane so I won't bother other cyclists or pedestrians.
