Thanks for your responses, this is very encouraging. I got away from swimming many years ago after a viral ear infection gave me some vertigo. But I haven't had any vertigo symptoms for a long time, so looking forward to giving swimming another chance. I remember enjoying swimming quite a lot as a kid..... same as riding a bike! In fact, most of my interest in bike riding as an adult is an attempt to capture the fun I remember having on a bike as a kid. Maybe swimming would be a good fit for me for the same reason. Hmm.
