Thanks everyone for the responses, they tend to fall in line with my thoughts which are an
average of 45 min to an hour, 30 min as a best case and 2 hrs in the worst. Of course it varies widely with the kind of service offered. Most places form a good average so that the 15 min. tune-ups subsidize the 2 hr. ones.
One answer I got elsewhere that I liked was that a shop should earn at least 1 dollar a minute for a mechanics work time.
