I never stopped cycling was just out of the scene for a long time. Normally get in my 2 hours from 5-7AM on the road. Commuting by bike helped me keep decent fitness over the years.
I did go out to 9W a few times this year but it's not the same anymore. I miss the epic battles on 9W! Now it's all Rapha, Instagram Disc Brakes. Nobody seems to really "ride" anymore, they pose.
Yeah, commuting was great for getting the miles in when you have a busy schedule. You can structure training in there as well depending on how long your commute is. While I like to think I miss riding into the city, I don't really since I just make my way north to 9W and it's mainly trees and deer.
As for the epic battles, yeah those were some great rides. I remember one of the trips to Bear Mountain was essentially an impromptu race to and from.
