The trainer frame flexes the more tension that you put in. I used one for years. You don't need to screw the absolute crap out of it, you just need it to engage firmly. You will see what I mean when you take the tension off the clamping mechanism. You unscrew, but the trainer frame moves back in (unless you've screwed the bejezuz out of it and bent the frame)

I ran my KKRM for years with zero issues. I used grip tape to take out the slip and just put up with the rubbery mess for the zero slip. Later, I removed the roller and had it knurled. Zero slip still, and about 5% of the rubber mess from running the grip tape. Still a little bit of rubber, but very very little compared to with the grip tape
