I noticed a few tables away from me, a well dressed woman in her late 40’s who had a modest but noticeable (to me at 15 foot distance) goiter (enlargement of thyroid). I looked again and noticed her eyes had lid lag (you could see whites of eyes between iris and upper lid at times. I highly suspect she has Graves’ disease or another thyroid condition. But not my place to say anything, right?
I thought of approaching her to say “sorry to bother you, but if you are not aware of it you should ask your doctor about your thyroid.”
I ultimately chose to stay silent on this as I did not want to creep her out.
Perhaps, "I'm a Doctor, and I have some unsolicited advice, which also happens to be free. Would you like to hear it, or would you like me to mind my own business?"
