Clearly you have missed his many other posts. He has a storage facility were he keeps his backups. He lives cheaply so he can afford nicer stuff generally. So all in all it isn't a bad way to go if you choose to go that way. A storage facility is cheaper than an apartment and if your plan is to tour around and ride everywhere having an address you don't really need is silly.
Yes, I missed the storage facility thing. I never knew you could rent one of those if you didn't know you could rent one of those if you didn't have a permanent address
