Was just having the same problem literally spent all evening trying to get the software to sync. After reading this it occurred to me that there might be some compatibility problem with the software running on Win10.
The fix that I found is
Right click on the desktop icon
click properties -> Compatibility -> Click 'Run this program in compatibility mode -> Select a version of windows that's not Win10. I chose WinXP as this almost every piece of software written will run on XP.
It works for me.
