Every left gripshift I’ve ever across has positions on the shifter from 1 to 3 but they aren’t ‘indexed” like the rear. They “click” rather than index like a paddled shifter (Rapidfire or SRAM). Often they have almost as many “clicks” as the right side. I’m not a fan of gripshifters but they do offer a lot of trimming on the derailer.
