I use a canti version of the SH for gravel, and loaded touring. It does a fine job, and I enjoy it for both purposes. I did not however attempt to do this with a stock build. The gearing for the complete bike is really more for someone CC touring with little "stuff" to transport, not sure why AC has it specc'd that way, but listed as a touring bike. I bought it as a frame/fork, and built it up with a Sugino triple 46-36-26 and 9 speed cassette 11/32, bar end shifters. It hauls my gear nicely, and rides well with a front load.
