9 speed Chorus would be more era appropriate for that frameset for a top dollar sale ---- the cassette should roll right onto the freehub you have too
But yes -- i also recall when the vast majority of high end bikes were sold as framesets only . I remember the wonder when i saw a guy outfit a Bi-Titan with a 600 Shimano tri color groupset. It made perfect sense to him. HE hated Campagnolo shifting but loved the Colnago frameset, ---
Who am i to argue with personal preference -- and it didnt seem to be a money issue as that frameset back then was likely 2500 bucks in 1995
