If people wanted to rob buses, they could do it now with a driver on board by just getting on at a stop and committing the robbery. There are cameras and ways to notify the police, just as there would be on self-driving buses.

Convenient stores are far more popular for robbery because they have a cash drawer and valuable products to grab. I've never heard of a bus robbery, though train robberies are a popular historical theme.
