When I was in high school in the '60s, not one kid road a bike to school. It was that "uncool."
Now HS mountain bike racing is has the most participants of any sport in the local league, and my alma mater is the NorCal MTB champion.
I own a company and a cycling friend of mine asked me to sponsor a local high school team. I went out to one of the hs MTB races and was astonished at the participation level. It’s like XC racing’s heyday back in the 90s. An awesome sight.
