I think that I have educated Spawn I well.
When he was about 10 years old I was playing some Captain Beefheart and he said "What is this? Why don't you play more of this? It is really good!" To be honest I was playing some cuts off of "Clear Spot" and that is a bit more accessible to most people, but still it was quite a shock to me. You don't expect a 10 year old kid to understand a deconstruction/reconstruction of "Delta Blues".
Spawn I has grown up in a house where I sit him down to listen to Miles Davis. And Howlin' Wolf. As well as Weird Al and the Ramones. And Hank Williams.
And LOTS of Zappa, when my wife wasn't there.
