Or, for very little money - old inner tubes.

Having said that, I might just do my first wrap with innertube. I've been riding doubled up cloth tape the past few years. Did once wrap a bar with innertube and tried it. Liked the feel but too much grip for me. I want to be able to quickly slide forward to the brake, always. But cloth over the innertube should solve that nicely.
