True, but the odds of a common thief having a Kuat lock key when you stop in the gas station, convenience store, or coffee stop is pretty unlikely.
I wouldn't leave the bike on the rack in a hotel parking lot overnight or in a shopping center lot while gone for an hour or two, but for the 5-10 minute stop the cable lock should be okay in most circumstances. It's a detterent, not security.
