I just keep harking back to an article in the now-defunct "Bicycle Guide" magazine, where they stretched the limits of (then-current) technology to create a 16 lb bike that used components like Modolo's plastic downtube shfters that had a reputation for breaking off in your hand, brakes known for not stopping well, and it was so noodly it was practically unrideable by anyone over 150 lbs. And now you can get the Specialize Aethos that weighs under 14 lbs, has STIs and disk brakes, and will support people up to 275 lbs.

The Aethos is also gorgeous. I love how simple it is.
