Here's my experience with the chrome vs. timbuk2 issues from having owned both.

The chrome is infinitely more comfortable on or off the bike. The chrome is a heavier bag too.
That said, the timbuk2 sits a little more horizontal while the chrome sits more diagonal on your back. This meant for me, since I'm a skinny guy, that the timbuk2 felt more awkward when fully loaded while the chrome generally felt better while fully loaded.
