I got a slash in my Bon Jon slicks... similar situation. In NoCal with all the rocky hills and climbs, slicks just ended up not working out for me. Went back to knobbies. Keeping the slicks for roads.

I know lots lots of folks are making do with them. But it’s really dependent on the terrain where you live.
