it isnt about if you are a safe rider, it's about everyone else around you- cars, bikes, and walkers.

ride a bike? Wear a helmet.
ride a horse? Wear a helmet.
ride a motorcycle? Wear a helmet.

there just isn't a downside to wearing one.
pretty simple. Hope it eventually takes hold over there.
