Wow, most of the pumpkin fields on my side of the Illinois River have either been picked or the vines have withered away. Those must have been late planted to still have that much vine.

Well, I'm continually being surprised by the status of the crops, so this seems completely reasonable to me. Besides, my photo is of a field NW of Princeville, perhaps 40 miles from your photo. Might be a factor??
Haven't seen any fields with the vines gone yet. I'll probably turn around and see them everywhere tomorrow!
edit: maybe the pumpkins that I saw aren't for eating... maybe for looking at?? They seemed much more colorful than the usual pie filling pumpkins.
