No one has ever said that any of the current measures prevent the disease. Masks and social distancing are to "flatten the curve," spreading out the occurrence of serious infections so hospitals can try to keep up.

But the people that are going to get serious cases are going to get them, it's just a matter of when. Barring full-blown quarantine of... well, everyone, the virus is going to continue to travel and infect people. Some of those people will die.

Standing in the long line to get into the Costco a few days ago, the little girl about 8 feet in front of me pulled down her mask, sneezed violently four times-- into the wide open air-- then pulled her mask back up.

That's why this virus, and all the other viruses, have and always will do well. The virus picked the perfect idiot species to go for.
