Carradice bags and Ortlieb O bag are targeting the laptop toting commuter.

and perhaps sew in D rings if you must have backpack straps, to clip on,
just when you need them .
I scored one of the old steel bag support frame and hired a wider base brazed on to make it into a utility carrier,
then got the finished piece powder coated ..
