It's not Strava which is accurate or inaccurate, but rather the data it recieves which is. If you're running and recording on a phone relying on GPS, it can be accurate or inaccurate depending on the integrity of the GPS connection. Things like heavy tree cover, tall buildings, and narrow canyons can create inaccuracies.

If you're uploading data from a cyclometer, whether you're using GPS or a wheel speed sensor matters, with wheel sensors being more reliable, but then you have to have the correct settings (i.e. wheel circumference) to have accurate reporting.
