I have a tool bag that attaches to my saddle. It has the tools and supplies I need in case I get a flat, and it includes a micro-pump. It has a taillight attached to its rear.

The bike is light, and a light bike rides best unladen. I carry the rest of my stuff, including a water bottle, in a backpack. That way, the extra weight is sprung weight.
