I ended up buying a
Top Shelf short, along with a sample pack of Chamois Buttr, $40 total shipped to me after the 20% discount. I've ridden in them 5X so far and I'm happy with the choice. Top Shelf has more spandex content than the Pro short linked in
#1 , so for a given size they fit & feel tighter, even though the specified dimensions are identical. It's as fancy a short as I need, and a great value.
