Minibikes were a huge thing when I was an adolescent. My parents wouldn't let me have one, of course, but they said yes to my youngest brother a few years later.
In high school metal shop, I built a minibike frame, bought the wheels, then bought an 80cc Suzuki motorcycle engine to put in it. It's probably a good thing I sold it before completing the project. Later on I worked at a company that put together motorcycles from their crates then delivered them to dealers. The boss had several Honda Z50's that we would short track race in the warehouse. I was 6'3", so it was amusing.
