See datlas' post above. The taxes on the place where he stayed are not high. My guess is through corporate tax revenue. I believe it's a corporate tax friendly state rate-wise and possibly in other ways. That's why so many businesses are incorporated there. Shore-related tourism probably brings in a decent chunk of change relative to the state's size and population.
