You should know from your ICP-MS experience that calibration blanks are never perfectly zero (unless you cheat and use forcing which is wrong). A measured 1W "blank" should be considered acceptable (dark current/ thermal noise etc.); 30W not so much...
Mine often reads 1W, I ignore it.
