My first car was a 1955 Jaguar XK140. I was 15 when I found it abandoned in a parking lot in Virginia, and a friendly police officer helped me track down the owner who was in California. I contacted him and offered all the money I had - $50. He accepted and I towed it home where I worked on it night and day for most of a year. Finally got it running for my final years in high school.

I still dream about that car and my high school sweetheart, smiling beside me. It was 55 years ago. Sometimes I dream I got the car back. Sometimes I dream I got the girl back too.
