Well it's viewed as pretty hot here (there aren't many big runs, bicycle centuries in the region in July or August). I'm guessing they chose then rather than September is because they don't want to conflict with college football, because that's how we roll here.
Triathlon is a warm-weather sport day in which we start a half-marathon in late morning in July. Bring it.
