I just rode 1000 miles since I started cycling again in August, and I've been very, very careful about how many calories I ate during the day, and tried to keep the ones I did eat relatively healthy. I didn't lose as much weight as I thought I would, though I did burn some some good body fat, and I can feel the difference in my clothes. I'll be doing some more reading and thinking about my eating plan. I'll look into some more options and see if something along the lines of what you're doing might work for me.
